INTRO - Introduction to the Advanced Portfolio

INTRODUCTION TO THE ADVANCED PORTFOLIO

Today me and my group of 2 others which consists of myself, Jack and Charlotte have decided to choose the Promo Music Video brief to follow for this project, and as the ancillary tasks we have chosen a cover for its release as part of a digipak and also a magazine advertisement for the digipak. We've chosen the print option for the ancillary tasks, as none of us in the group are that knowledgeable enough in web design to create a good web page.

We are going to produce the actual music video before we embark on making the CD cover and the magazine advertisement. This is because the purpose of the CD cover and advert are both to promote the band and their music, therefore we must know what genre of music and what type of band is on the CD first, so we can tailor the CD cover and advert to fit in with it.

I am working with 2 people which I worked which last year for my AS Film project, and as we all gained an A for our Foundation Portfolio's at AS I decided I would love to work in this group again as I believe we worked very well as a team. We all worked together with all aspects of Research/Planning and Construction when we made our Film Opening for AS and we hope to do this again as this approach to the project worked well in terms of getting everything done on time.

We have decided to choose the music video task as we believe that we can build upon the skills that we learnt when using camera's and equipment last year when doing our film opening. We are going to apply all of last years knowledge of things like camera shots, editing, sound and mise-en scene to make this project better than the last one. Also, because we think it's very different to the brief we had last year and would like to achieve a different outcome and try and get as much experience in different areas as possible, in order to effectively be able to talk about the production of media products. It may be more of a challenge when we come to do the print options as we didn't work with print last year.
